DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Q2 Luncheon\n\n\n\n\n\nDATE: Thursday\, June 12\, 2025 \n\n\n\nTIME: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. \n\n\n\nLOCATION: Fogo de Chao\, 1513 Wynkoop St. Denver\, CO 80202 \n\n\n\nSPEAKER: Dan Olsen\, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at CSU \n\n\n\nTOPIC: Methane Emissions from Natural gas Engines and how to Mitigate Them \n\n\n\nDESCRIPTION: Natural gas (NG) engines are a critical component of the energy sector\, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional fuels. However\, methane emissions remain a challenge. Methane slip from internal combustion engines is relatively high owing to its low reactivity relative to other hydrocarbon fuels. Methane leakage from compressor packing vents\, blow-downs\, and other sources are also problematic. The focus of this talk is on engine compressor sets and integral compressors\, with an emphasis on lean burn engines. The sources of methane emissions are reviewed\, followed by a discussion of mitigation approaches. \n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n\nMembers – $65\n\n\n\nNon-members – $75\n\n\n\nOn-site registration on June 12th is available for $85 to everyone (members and non-members). Prior to returning to academia in 1996 for a PhD\, he worked in industry as a design engineer for six years. Olsen joined the Mechanical Engineering faculty at Colorado State University in 2006 after working for six years as a Research Scientist at CSU. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the thermal sciences. Olsen’s research at the CSU Powerhouse Energy Campus includes evaluation of engine exhaust aftertreatment systems\, development of new technologies for industrial engines\, and characterization of alternative fuels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers Register Today!
