Rocky Mountain GPA 2nd Quarter Training Session

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION CONSIDERATIONS OF CO2 PIPELINES
SPEAKER: Dr. Wayne Monnery - Lead Professor with SIGIT ACADEMY

WHEN: June 23, 2022

WHERE: 600 17th Street, 23rd floor South Tower

SCHEDULE:
Check in and Lunch          11:00 to 12:30
Training session                12:30 to 4:30

TOPIC:  DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION CONSIDERATIONS OF CO2 PIPELINES:
As GHG concerns drive greater interest in CCUS, there is a growing need for safe, reliable and cost-effective transport of CO2. Formerly a niche offering, current trends suggest that CO2 pipelines will become a larger share of the midstream sector’s portfolio of services.   While our June luncheon topic provides the “big picture” perspective on decarbonization, our second quarter training session will focus on more detailed design and construction aspects of CO2 transport in pipelines.  Primary topics include processing of CO2 to meet pipeline specifications, as well as the modeling, design and construction of pipelines in CO2 service (including differences between liquefaction versus high-pressure gas transport).

SPEAKER BIO:
Dr. Wayne Monnery is the lead Professor with SIGIT ACADEMY and has over 30 years industry experience. Dedicating his career to gas process engineering, he holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary.  Wayne has delivered presentations to the Gas Processors Suppliers Association (GPSA) and his work has been published in numerous academic and industrial journals. Wayne continues to educate students at the University of Calgary, in industry, as well as other recognized institutions. He is currently the President of CHEM-PET Process Technology and has consulted for many leading EPCM companies.  Wayne has described specialties as “sweetening and sulphur recovery.” He is a recognized expert in simulation and fluid properties and is at the forefront of various geothermal, lithium and carbon capture projects.
