Rocky Mountain GPA 1st Quarter Training Session
Overview of the Natural Gas and LNG Value Chains
Kindra Snow-McGregor,P.E. PetroSkills | John M Campbell
Have you ever wondered what is the natural gas value chain, and what role does natural gas play in meeting the global energy needs?
Have you ever wondered what determines the optimal gas plant configuration based upon the plants operating goals / contracts? What are the drivers behind the varioius unit operation selections? Want to learn more about LNG and the market drivers for that value chain?
This 4-hour seminar will provide an Overview of the Natural Gas and LNG Value Chains. The session will start with a discussion on Natural Gas and World Energy Trends. This will set the basis for understanding the role of natural gas in meeting the world’s energy needs. The role of gas processing in the natural gas value chain will be addressed next. In this discussion we will cover the various types of hydrocarbon reservoirs that produce natural gas and outline the primary constraints of a gas processing facility.
Once the foundation for the what and why of gas processing has been laid, we will then touch on the various technology options for gas sweetening, gas dehydration, NGL extraction, fractionation and liquid product treating, including under what conditions process conditions these technologies are selected.
We will then review the LNG Value Chain, and market drivers. A review of the primary baseload LNG technologies used (APCI C3 MR, and ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade®). A high- level overview of LNG storage tanks, shipping and regasification terminals will be discussed as well.
This interactive session will have multiple quizzes to test your knowledge along the way. I look forward to meeting and working with you on the 29th of March!
